Expense Snap (“Receipt Snap”, “we”, “us”) is built privacy-first. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

1.Information We Collect

• Receipt content: images you capture or import, and the OCR text, vendor, date, amounts, tax/GSTIN, currency, and category derived from them. This stays on your device.
• Account information: name and email associated with Sign in with Apple (if used), your selected persona, country, and home currency.
• Device & diagnostics: anonymised, non-content usage events (e.g. “app opened”, “scan started”, OCR success/failure, currency code) via Google Firebase Analytics, plus crash reports.
• Subscription information: purchase status received from Apple’s StoreKit. We never see your payment card details.

2.How We Use Your Information

• Provide core features: scanning, OCR parsing, search, insights, exports.
• Protect your account: enable Face ID / passcode lock, detect unusual activity.
• Improve the product: fix bugs and prioritise improvements using anonymised telemetry.
• Process subscriptions and entitlements through the App Store.
• Comply with legal obligations such as tax-record requirements where applicable.

3.On-Device Processing — No Third-Party AI

OCR runs entirely on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. We do not use, and your receipts are never sent to, any cloud service or third-party AI service (such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, or any external OCR/AI API) for processing. Receipt images and extracted text never leave your device unless:

• You explicitly share or export a receipt (CSV, PDF, or the iOS share sheet).

4.Storage and Security

Receipts are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SwiftData store — they are not synced to our servers or to iCloud. Optional Face ID / passcode lock prevents others on your device from opening the app.

5.Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your data. We do not share your receipts with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks. We may share limited information with:

• Apple, to deliver core platform features (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit).
• Google Firebase Analytics, which receives anonymised, non-content usage events (for example: screen opened, a scan started, currency code, OCR success/failure) so we can understand feature usage and fix bugs. We never send your receipt images, vendor names, notes, or amounts to Firebase. Firebase’s handling is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, which provides protections consistent with this policy.
• Service providers we engage strictly for hosting, error monitoring, or customer support — only to the extent needed and under confidentiality obligations.
• Authorities, where required by valid legal process. We will challenge overly broad requests where lawful.

6.International Transfers

Your receipts are stored on your device and are not transferred across borders by us. Any diagnostics are processed by our providers under appropriate safeguards.

7.Your Rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. India DPDP, EU GDPR, UK GDPR, California CCPA) you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct or update inaccurate data
• Export your data (Settings → Data Privacy → Export My Data)
• Delete your account and data (Settings → Data Privacy → Delete Account)
• Withdraw consent for optional processing such as diagnostics
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority

We respond to verified requests within 30 days.

8.Children

Expense Snap is not directed at children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child without verified parental consent, we will delete it.

9.Retention

Receipts remain until you delete them. When you delete a receipt or your account, the data is removed from your device immediately.

10.Changes

We will update this policy as the product evolves and as laws change. Material changes will be highlighted in-app before they take effect.

Welcome to Expense Snap. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). Please read them carefully.

1.Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) and able to enter into a binding contract to use Expense Snap.

2.The Service

Expense Snap helps individuals and businesses scan, organise, search, and export receipts. Features include on-device OCR, GST/VAT extraction, category tagging, multi-currency support, search, insights, and export to CSV/PDF. Some features require an active paid subscription.

3.Your Account

You are responsible for the activity that occurs under your account. Keep your device passcode, biometric credentials, and Apple ID secure. Notify us at dhavalbhanderi880@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

4.Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Expense Snap for any unlawful purpose, upload content that is not your own, reverse engineer the app, bypass usage limits or subscription gates, or use the service to harm others. We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially breach these Terms.

5.Subscriptions and Billing

Pro features are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions through your Apple ID. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. You can manage or cancel in Settings → Manage Plan, or in the App Store. Refunds are handled by Apple per App Store policy.

6.Data Accuracy and Tax Filings

Expense Snap performs OCR on-device using Apple Vision. OCR results can contain errors due to print quality, lighting, or unusual layouts. You are solely responsible for verifying vendor names, dates, amounts, GSTINs, tax components, and categories before using them for accounting or tax filing. Expense Snap is a productivity tool — not a substitute for professional tax or accounting advice.

7.Intellectual Property

Expense Snap, including its logos, design, and source code, is owned by us or our licensors. You retain ownership of your receipts, notes, and exported reports.

8.Third-Party Services

Expense Snap integrates with Apple (Sign in with Apple, StoreKit) and Google Firebase Analytics (anonymised, non-content usage metrics only). It does not use any third-party AI or cloud service to process your receipts — all scanning and text extraction happens on your device. Use of those services is governed by their own terms.

9.Disclaimers & Liability

The app is provided “AS IS” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) USD 50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10.Governing Law & Changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which our entity is registered. We may update these Terms when we add features or to comply with new laws; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. Questions? dhavalbhanderi880@gmail.com.
